3 nights CAMDEN:
Our adventure begins in the village of Camden, Maine on the shore of Penobscot Bay, where "the mountains meet the sea." We'll be staying at a beautiful New England style inn near the harbor and within walking distance to restaurants, art galleries, shops, and "one of the world's prettiest walks," according to Yankee Magazine. Kayak to Curtis Island lighthouse and hike to outlooks with panoramic views of the Maine coast. Meander about the Camden Harbor Juried Arts and Crafts Show taking place during our visit. Before heading to Monhegan Island we will visit the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland for a guided tour and learn about artists whose works have been inspired by the beauty of the coast of Maine.

2 nights MONHEGAN ISLAND:
We will take the Monhegan Ferry from Port Clyde; seals, porpoises, and even whales are commonly spotted on the ride. Monhegan Island is home to a small colony of artists, local fishermen, and an array of seabirds. This small island is the perfect place to de-stress and enjoy nature's serenity. Walk along the numerous trails and visit galleries and studios of local artists, and explore the lighthouse and museum that crown the island.

3 nights BAR HARBOR, MOUNT DESERT ISLAND:
After returning to Port Clyde by ferry we will transfer (End 6-day option ) to Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. We'll be staying at a historic B-and- B located in the heart of town near the harbor. Hike the trails of Acadia National Park. Bike the carriage trails, which date back to the hey-day of this beautiful island-getaway of the Rockefellers and other notables of the early 1900s. Visit little Cranberry Island and it's artisits' galleries. Optional activities include kayaking, a whale watch or nature-cruise. On our last evening we will gather for a special farewell dinner.

We'll be joined by Registered Maine Guide True Soilikki who will guide hikes and walks in the Camden Hills , Monhegan Island, and Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. True is an art and nature enthusiast and spends as much time as possible in the wilderness with her sketch pad and her dog Timber. True and Timber reside in Camden, Maine part of the year and in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for the other part. Prior to our adventure in Maine, True and Timber will be finishing the final stretch of the Continental Divide Trail. The completion of which will give them the TRIPLE CROWN of hiking (meaning they have hiked the Appalachian Trail, 2168 miles; Pacific Crest Trail, 2658 miles; and the Continental Divide “trail,” 3100 miles). Some of True's "short" hikes include the International Extension of the Appalachian Trail into Canada, a hike across Newfoundland, the Camino de Santiago from France to the Atlantic coast of Spain, and the Bear Path (Karhunpolku) in eastern Finland along the Russian boarder. For our women's travel adventure True has selected her favorite hikes in coastal Maine.

Enjoy lobster on the coast of Maine
BEST  PLACES  TO HAVE  LOBSTER:

One of my favorite places to enjoy lobster is at the Waterfront Restaurant in Camden, Maine. On a warm summer night sit outsite on the deck overlooking the harbor full of sail boats. On a cool evening sit inside by the fire place. (For more information visit http://www.waterfrontcamden.com/)

Make a special trip out to Islesford Island-a ferry ride away from Mount Desert-for wonderful rustic atmosphere and great lobster at the Islesford Dock Restaurant (visit them on line at http://www.islesford.com/idcbusiid.html).
More coming soon!
