Your Tour Leaders
The Egyptian tour is escorted by Kim Childs, our Egyptian specialist. Kim has led and organized numerous groups to Egypt and the holy land. She traveled to Egypt for the first time during high school, when she was selected as an A.F.S. exchange student. The warm welcome Kim received from her Egyptian host family in Cairo endeared Egypt and its people to her. Egypt beckoned once again during her university years, when she returned to study at the American University in Cairo for more than a year, which inspired a dream of incorporating Egypt and travel into her future life’s work. Working as a freelance program director for a large tour operator Kim was able to incorporate her love of Egypt into her work. This, in turn, led to Kim meeting her husband, who also shared her passion for travel and the Middle East in particular – and to their co-founding and running a travel business together for several years. Kim now resides on an island in Maine with her husband and two young children. We are thrilled to have Kim on the wanderwoman team!

The pace is leisurely providing time to "feel" Egypt and not merely run through it, yet we've included the major attractions and a few special surprises. Some days are full from the crack of dawn (sight-seeing is best before the afternoon heat) until after dinner, but other days have free time for optional activities or for rest and reflection. Since travel in Egypt can be rigorous we’ve selected very comfortable hotels (mostly deluxe 5-stars) that offer spas or other rejuvenating amenities, yet are close to shops, restaurants, and other attractions for those who want to explore. To visit Egypt and only see tombs and temples would give an incomplete picture of this fascinating country, so the tour also explores modern day life in Egypt, especially the lives of women. This itinerary involves a considerable amount of walking and requires a certain degree of physical fitness. Included tours are half-day to full-day in duration and some are under the hot Egyptian sun and on the uneven terrain of archaeological excavations. Participants must be able to walk 2 to 5 miles. Comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and an ability to enjoy cultural differences are essential. A packing list, helpful travel information, and a suggested reading list will be provided.

Note: This is an active travel vacation and is NOT suitable for those with limited mobility and/or poor health. All group activities and group meals are NON-SMOKING.

Eurynome Journeys/Leisure Markets Inc., reserves the right to change the itinerary and make substitutions at anytime to ensure the safety and comfort of the group or as deemed necessary by the tour director. Although the tour has been carefully planned circumstances may require changes to the itinerary. Prices are subject to availability at time of booking.

We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for the total cost of the trip as soon as possible. For best coverage options insurance should be purchase NO later than 14 days after your deposit. Insurance can be purcased through your insurance company, Eurynome Journeys, or online at TRAVEL GUARD.
